In January of this year, one of Larry's smallest sculptures was shown in Antarctica at the McMurdo Alternative Art Gathering at the McMurdo Station. Known as MAAG to people who regularly spend a season at the station, it is a highlight of the summer. Residents use found objects to create art for the show or participate in the fashion show. This year, a family member took this small bird from Larry's collection exploring the 12 Steps with her to display in MAAG 2018.
All brands have logos, but very few can lay claim to an iconic shape like the Coca-Cola Bottle. The contour bottle was designed by a glassblower in a Terre Haute bottling plant during a national competition in 1915. To celebrate the iconic shape, Terre Haute has launched the Root Family Public Art Project and commissioned 25 different artists to paint the 6 foot tall sculptures.
